ABOUT US

Information about who we are and what we're striving to do

New Vision Fellowship (NVF) is a non-denominational community of believers who are committed to loving God and others, growing in faith and serving God’s kingdom by impacting our communities. NVF was born from a desire to encourage believers to worship wholeheartedly, a need to foster deeper understanding of God's word, and a commitment to share God's love with people from all walks of life. We believe for the will of God to be done in earth as it is done in heaven, and to introduce Jesus to be both savior and Lord in the hearts of all who will hear the gospel.

OUR VISION

We are united through Christ

New Vision Fellowship is a faith community dedicated to fulfilling the Great Commission by reaching those who don’t know Christ, maturing those who do, and inspiring believers to share God’s love. Serving Rankin county and the Greater Jackson Metropolitan Area, our desire is not only to impact our local area with the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, but to also be a unifying agent in the region. We promote purposeful living by developing people in key areas of life: spiritually, emotionally, financially, socially and physically. No matter where a person is in life, our desire is to see them move to the next level.

OUR MISSION

To Love, To Grow, and To Serve

New Vision Fellowship exists to help people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ through purposeful living. We accomplish our mission by:

  • Encountering God in WORSHIP
  • Engaging each other in FELLOWSHIP
  • Edifying believers through DISCIPLESHIP
  • Expressing God’s love through EVANGELISM
  • Equipping the saints to serve in MINISTRY
  • Executing God’s plan through LEADERSHIP

We focus on these six ministry points to shape how we love, grow and serve our community.

OUR BELIEFS

We Believe in the triune God - The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1-3; Deuteronomy. 6:4; Mark 12:20.)

We believe in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is true God and true man. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. We believe that Jesus was crucified, was buried, and has risen from the dead. We believe He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor. (Acts 2:36; John 1:1-14; John 3:16; Matthew 1:20, 23; Matthew 16:16-18; 1 Corinthians 15:1-6; Colossians 3:1; Hebrews 12:2; I Peter 3:22)

We believe that the Bible (Old and New Testaments) is God's divinely inspired Word. (2 Timothy 3:16)

We believe that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and are in need of salvation. (Romans 3:23)

We believe salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ and is received through confession and belief of His death, burial and resurrection. (Romans 10:9-10; I Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 4:12; I John 3:5)

We believe it is the will of God for every believer to be filled with the Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:8-16; Titus 3:5-6)

We believe in speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 2:1-4; 37-39; I Corinthians 14)

We believe that healing is provided in the redemptive work of Christ and is available to the believer. (Isaiah 53:5; I Peter 2:24)

We believe that the Church consists of all those who have received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. (I Corinthians 12:12-14)

We believe God has given five major ministry gifts for the building and edifying of those who receive Salvation through Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-14)

We believe that here will be a bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust. (John 5:28-30; I Thessalonians 4:13-18)

We believe in water baptism, and observance of the Lord's Supper. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; I Corinthians 11:23-30)

We believe the tithe belongs to God. (Malachi 3:10)

We believe in the personal, visible, imminent return of Jesus Christ. (John 14:3; Revelation 22:11-12)

In Memory of Tamara Coleman

Once in a lifetime, we are so blessed to meet

A person so genuine, loving, and sweet.

Our church was blessed to have such a one,

Tamara Coleman, a woman who could be compared to none.

The love she gave to each of us we never shall forget,

She always showed love and kindness to everyone she met.

She was fun to be with, always smiling and brightening everyone’s day.

Godly care, and when there was a need, she always made a way.

Her ear was always open, to listen closely from the start.

For one thing she always did, was speak to you from her heart.

She loved her church and her church loved her more.

Tamara was an amazing saint and so easy to adore.

She stayed connected and in touch with people near and far.

She had a way of making you feel like you were a superstar.

She was sensitive, loving, and always willing to share.

Kind, gentle, and one who genuinely cared.

She’d talk to children, adults, and the elderly too.

And if you talked to her long enough, she’d find something for you to do.

It’s impossible to fully express the depth of her beautiful spirit,

Tamara was one-in-a-million and when listening to her you’d certainly hear it.

It’s hard to imagine life without her in the years to come.

The thought of us not seeing her leaves us somewhat numb,

Yet, what comforts us most of all is knowing where she is

Because of Jesus’ sacrifice Tamara Coleman yet lives.

Though she’s no longer with us here on earth, she is still alive and bright,

In God’s glorious presence she worships freely, forever in His sight.

Tamara left this life for a better one with no sorrow, sadness, or pain. We shall always cherish her precious memory, until we all see her once again.

In Loving Memory,  From The NVF Church Family

                  OVERSEERS

Pastor Juan Jones & Pastor Robin Jones

Pastors Juan and Robin, along with Eddie “Ray” and the late Tamara Coleman, pioneered New Vision Fellowship (NVF) in 1999.  Juan is Senior Pastor and Robin serves as Co-Pastor. Their heart’s desire is to see people whole spiritually, physically, socially, financially, and emotionally. They are particularly passionate about the work of the Kingdom and over the years have served in various ministry capacities. The Joneses have had notable success at promoting unity amongst churches in the region, and they have a strong anointing in the area of marriage and family ministry. Whether teaching in an academic setting, preaching to a congregation or ministering at a marriage conference, the Joneses are always excited to share the Gospel. As loving parents, pastors, mentors, and counselors, their love for God and people is undeniable.

Natives of Columbus, OH, the Joneses met in High School at a prayer group, are best friends, and have been married since 1987.  They have two daughters, Tasha and Natalie, and two sons-in–love, Morgan and DeAndrew. Pastor Juan has a degree in electrical engineering and Pastor Robin has a degree in accounting. In addition to their secular degrees, they both have theological degrees from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK. Pastor Juan has a Master of Divinity degree (MDiv), and Pastor Robin has a Masters of Practical Theology (MAPT).

CHURCH HISTORY

NVF originated in the fall of 1998 as a Bible study led by Juan and Robin Jones in the home of Eddie and Tamara Coleman. As attendance grew, the Bible study moved to a larger home on Luckney Road. However, not long after this move, the Lord dealt with the Joneses and Colemans about officially forming a ministry. With the Lord’s guidance, the couples wrote the mission statement for the ministry and named it New Vision Fellowship.

In February of 1999, NVF held its first service as a church with Juan Jones as its Senior Pastor, and since that first service, God has showed His faithfulness by meeting every need of the church. From chairs being paid for by unexpected donors to Godly wisdom and advice, the consistent manifestation of God’s goodness inspired members to testify that, "God pays for what He orders."

Quickly, NVF outgrew its 524 Luckney location, and as a response, leaders began searching for a new location. Because of good stewardship, the ministry bought five acres of land further down Luckney Road with cash, and began preparations to build the new facility. Initially, NVF secured financing for the new church building through a local bank; however, God had other plans. One day in prayer, the Lord asked the leadership "Why not trust me?" Being obedient to the Lord’s supplication, the leaders turned down the financing and decided to break ground on the building with the funds that the church had on hand. Throughout the building’s construction, God delivered on his promise to provide the needs of His people, and with His help, NVF was built by the dedication and commitment of its members and others. As a testament to God’s faithfulness throughout the building process, the leaders made a sign that said “Built and Financed by God’s people,” and this motto still holds true to this day. Although construction was not fully complete, the first service in the new facility was held in July of 2004 in what is now the Fellowship Hall and through three phases, the facility was completed. The building was and is indeed a testimony to the goodness of God. NVF is a debt-free ministry and continues to declare that God pays for what He orders.

Currently, NVF has many opportunities to connect with other believers, grow in faith and serve the greater Rankin County community. In addition to the Sunday morning service, NVF has mid-week Life Care Groups (LCGs) where believers can fellowship, connect and grow together. People from all ages, religious backgrounds, and races are attracted to NVF. We are confident that as we keep the Lord first, our greatest days are ahead of us, and that this body of believers will be used as an instrument in God's hand to fulfill the great commission.
